HR Advisor – SAMH

SAMH is Scotland’s national mental health charity and has been around since 1923. Today, SAMH operates around 60 services in communities across Scotland providing mental health social care support, homelessness, addictions and employment services amongst others. These services, together with our national programme work in See Me, respectme, suicide prevention and active living; inform our policy and campaign work to influence positive social change.

Hunter Adams as part of our sourcing service, are working in collaboration with SAMH to appoint a talented HR Advisor.

Location : Glasgow – travel to other areas will be required. Edinburgh will also be considered.

Contract : 6 - 9 months

Salary : Dependent on Experience

 

Working closely with HR Business Partners within a busy HR team, you will play a key role in delivering a professional and efficient service managing a variety of HR cases in line with SAMH’s core values of dignity, respect and equality.

At present SAMH are looking to strengthen their team during a period of maternity cover with a strong Advisor / Consultant with significant case management experience. In this key role you’ll
work closely with managers within the organisation on people management issues including managing absence, wellbeing, disciplinary and grievances up to and including dismissal and appeal.

In your role you’ll take the lead on managing cases, coaching managers and supporting manager training on HR policies. As a trusted Advisor, you’ll be the first point of contact for our managers for day-to-day HR advice, coaching and advising line managers to enable them to deal with people management areas fairly, consistently and in line with current policy, procedures and UK employment legislation.

In order to hit the ground running in this role you must be able to demonstrate exceptional case management experience in particular experience of managing complex employee relations cases would be a distinct advantage. You should also have sound working knowledge of UK employment legislation and the ability to manage risk and solve problems.

Experience of working within the voluntary or a regulated sector would be advantageous; however SAMH would be able to equip you with sector specific experience on the job – what is paramount for this role is your strong ER expertise. Professional membership of the CIPD or equivalent experience and knowledge is essential and a passion for mental health and wellbeing within the workplace is also of interest for this role.
