Hunter Adams is working with a globally renowned higher education establishment to source an experienced Senior People Partner to join their team.

A bit about the role

The Senior People Partner will support the delivery of strategic change, including the People and Talent Strategy. As a member of the People community, you will also contribute to the continued development and delivery of policies, systems and practices.

Key activities will include:

  • Providing professional advice, expertise, guidance and support to Deans/Directors and senior managers on all aspects of People management
  • Developing strong partner relationships with key stakeholders
  • Holding overall responsibility for managing employee relations casework and directly supporting managers through complex cases
  • Developing People solutions that help achieve business goals while enabling employees to flourish
  • Contributing to the development and delivery of the People element of the annual operational planning cycle
  • Playing a key role in supporting organisational change, transition and growth
  • Planning and leading one-off projects and managing competing priorities against tight deadlines
  • Understanding and using data to provide evidence-based decision making
  • Recognising when to seek advice from other colleagues within People, when to seek legal opinion, and how to assess acceptable levels of risk in pursuing a particular course of action
  • Liaising regularly with the Trade Union Representatives, encouraging an open dialogue and working with them to address issues
  • Developing and delivering People development activities in consultation with our Talent and Development team
  • Liaising with our People Specialists for specific guidance around Reward and Recognition; Payroll and Pensions; Health, Safety and Wellbeing; and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
  • Contributing to policy development and major projects
  • Communicating regularly with other members of the People community to share best practice and keep up to date with professional developments
  • Representing the People Directorate on cross-functional working groups and at panel
  • Undertaking work as a HERA role analyst and represent the People team on ad-hoc committees

A bit about you

  • Experienced People professional with Chartered Membership of the CIPD
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with senior stakeholders that instil trust and confidence
  • Experience of supporting People strategy, change projects and partnering customers throughout the whole employee lifecycle
  • Strong background in People employee relations management, with a clear understanding of the capabilities required to manage complex cases, including appeals
  • Experience supporting on large scale recruitment, workforce planning and change projects including redundancy and org change
  • Experience embedding policy and process and strong influencing and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage and work independently using effective self-management of time and prioritise and deliver multiple projects to specified timescales
  • Ability to solve problems
  • Ability to understand and clearly present data. Excellent oral, written and visual communication skills. Good interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure to tight deadlines with a minimum of supervision.

Preferable

  • Experience of working in similar, complex environments
  • Experience of managing strong relationships in a union environment and project management experience
