We had a Q&A session with Fraser Sked, based in our Edinburgh office, to find out what he loves about being a Hunter Adams consultant. At the moment Fraser specialises in Hunter 100 – our HR solution for SMEs.
Hi Fraser. What is your role with Hunter Adams and how long have you been with the company?
I’m a Business (HR) Manager and I’ve been here for four years.
What did you do before you came to work for Hunter Adams?
I’ve worked in HR for 11 years at various companies, but prior to joining Hunter Adams, I worked for Amazon as an HR Business Partner at their Dunfermline site.
Describe the best part of your job?
Being able to gain direct contact and experience with business owners and leaders and assist them in shaping their business at what is often a critical time for them.
And your least favourite part?
Having limited control, at times, on the pace of delivering the work.
How does consulting differ from working in-house?
I feel you get more scope to make an impact on the companies you are supporting and get greater exposure to the Commercial and Operations sides of these companies. Also, working with other HR consultants who have a breadth of experience across sectors is also refreshing and helpful to hone and develop your own skill set.
What do you enjoy most about consulting?
The variety of clients and sectors I am able to get involved with and being able to actively support and suggest/drive positive change within companies from a people perspective.

Hunter 100 is a truly flexible, transparent and commercially-focused service that allows clients to manage whatever HR support they require without being beholden to a monthly or annual fee/retainer. By topping up a ‘bank of hours’ and drawing down on this whenever support is required, the money is only used as and when the work is undertaken by a consultant, meaning our clients are fully in control of how they use the service.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I like going to the cinema, enduring Hearts football matches with my Dad and friends, trying out new restaurants with my wife, listening to my favourite albums, and all that comes with being a Dad to my two boys. I also enjoy the occasional glass of Malbec!

I’ve swum with a pod of 600 wild dolphins.
